The Pennsylvania State University
The Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences at Penn State created a new graduate program in which faculty at different campuses needed to collaborate closely about incoming students. A new Internet system was created to manage student application details, move students through the application process and allow faculty access to review and vote on which students could enter the program.
Ms. Kennedy’s role was to ensure implementation and faculty adoption of the Internet voting system, including developing a training program, delivering training on schedule in person and providing system support for faculty as needed.
Shortly after, her position grew to include user interface design based on feedback from faculty, as well as the planning and implementation of system enhancements.
The ability for faculty to review and vote on applicants at their convenience was key in processing more than 600 applications within a few weeks, substantially reducing the number of meetings required to discuss the candidates.
The voting system, together with Jenn Kennedy’s training, faculty support and usability enhancements, have saved countless hours.

AETNA, one of the nation’s leading providers of health care, and HTH Worldwide, a leader in helping world travelers access quality healthcare services around the globe, teamed up to provide International Student Health Insurance.
Jenn Kennedy’s role was to collaborate on the shared website serving providers, customers and employees, including developing a training program for key AETNA employees to manage customer accounts, access reports and order promotional materials. Training was delivered online via video website tours.
Aetna awarded her efforts with recognition for excellence, and has continued to partner with HTH Worldwide.

The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Council 13, representing over 65,000 employees, presented me with the 2007 Award for Excellence in Communication.
